Job Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with multiple disease stakes by reviewing list of medications to identify missing or redundant treatments.
  • Managed “Diabetes Awareness” event at community pharmacy.
  • Enter, verify, and dispense proper medications.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and provide patient care, while ensuring patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Counsel patients on prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and medical supplies such as glucose monitors.
  • Counsel patients regarding adverse effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals, and also ensuring safe and effective use of medication.
  • Provide Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services to patients by identifying, preventing, and resolving medication related problems.
  • Perform complete medication review in person or over the phone.
  • Follow up with patients new to asthma, hypertension, depression, osteoporosis, and diabetes medications to ensure proper use and address any questions.
  • Supervise pharmacy technician, staff, and support personnel.
  • Responsible for overall operation and management of pharmacy.
  • Adhere to protocols for administration of vaccines.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Perform frequent audits to verify adherence to established standards and procedures.
  • Train and mentor pharmacy staff on industry best practices. Monitor key performance indicators and oversee the financial health of the pharmacy. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in pharmacy practices and healthcare.
  • Work with insurance for prior authorization if medication is not covered by insurance, to ensure that the patient receives prescribed medication.
  • Manage ordering and stocking of medications to ensure that patients can continue medication treatment without missing a dose.
  • Handle patient complaints and resolve any issues related to medication use or pharmacy operation.
  • Receive new prescriptions from prescribers; interpret and evaluate prescriptions; and interpret clinical data in the patient’s medication record.
  • Provide consultation to patients for all new prescriptions and when a patient’s refill prescription is dispensed with new directions or in a different form, strength, or dosage
  • Check drug interactions and drug utilization review, and consult with prescriber if any issue.
